Movie Monday: The Notebook

I don’t usually watch movies more than once but I have watched this film three times. There, I said it. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that The Notebook, which is based on the best selling novel by Nicholas Sparks of the same title, is one of the most visually appealing – Ryan Gosling is starring, what can I say – romantic movies ever. Okay, by visually appealing I mean that I love the depiction of early 1940’s in the film – the dresses, the hairstyles, the vintage cars, and all the nitty gritty details! Just take a look at how lovely Rachel McAdams in the film (I am still swooning over those vintage dresses she wore – love!).

The early 1940’s style and fashion were highly known for these 4 characteristics: bright, colorful, comfortable and glamorous. So how do you incorporate these 4 1940’s-touch on your wedding? Think of a country, vintage, laid back, relaxed wedding with a touch of English romance. It will be romantic and imperfectly beautiful – decor doesn’t have to match, just throw in lots of those pretty florals, add a touch of lace here and there, and incorporate a little rustic detail for that ruggedly-pretty finish. Nothing stiff, no matchy-matchy. It’s going to have a relaxed vibe where you and your guests can enjoy and have fun.

Excited to see how it looks? Dream away cherries – here’s the The Notebook movie inspired wedding theme:
