Others find neutral colors as a “safe” color motif, I find them clean, refreshing and elegant. True, not everyone can pull off a neutral shade without bordering on yawn-worthy, but with the right elements (you could throw in some sparkle or add pops of color to liven things up), you could make a neutral shade work for you.
Today’s Pantone Spring 2014 color feature is “a lightly toasted and amiable neutral” — Sand. It perfectly conjures images of the beach and the carefree days of summer, you could try pairing Sand with Hemlock for a perfect, natural balance.
Sand will also work best if you’re vying for a Rustic theme. But if you’re not into combining Sand with flashy shades, I’m sure burlap, jute, and twine combined with clean, crisp white will give you the raw, organic, and earthy look you need.
What I’m trying to say is, whether you’re rooting for an elegant or rustic look, Sand could easily play the part. So much for flexibility, eh? So, is Sand your Pantone pick for next year? 🙂
