Movie Monday: Amélie

Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain) or Amélie, for short, is a romantic comedy and a whimsical depiction of the contemporary Parisian life. It lovingly tells how despite her struggles with her own isolation, Amélie (played by Audrey Tautou), a naive and young waitress in Montmartre decides to change the lives of those around her for the better, and along the way, discovers love.

Visually stunning and filled with intense, vibrant colors, this film has tons of whimsical wedding ideas that will inspire you to make your wedding a quirky, young and carefree celebration of love.

Perfect for a daytime, outdoor wedding, let your guests frolic under the warm sun as you wow them with decors that bursts with cheery colors of red, yellow and green. Lovely too is you could use a Vespa or a bicycle as your wedding transport to remind you of those quick and easy city tours Amélie took with Nino.

As for the bridal look, don a lovely vintage, tea-length frock (you could wear red cardigan if you’re wearing a white dress) and wear red shoes (yes, it has to be RED!). And of course, the groom has to wear the famous red Converse.

Incorporate other details from the movie like the traveling garden gnome as one of your reception decor and Amélie’s favorite raspberries as part of your wedding cake. And yes, use lots of photos too. A photo booth and photos are musts in the decor – polaroid or ripped – it’s your choice! Remember how Nino’s character enjoyed reconstructing torn-up pictures found underneath photo booths? 🙂 Definitely, the Amélie movie inspired wedding is going to be a one whimsical love affair to remember!
